We received this Christmas postcard from Corey Vaughan just in time. These deflated santas are the subject of the photographer’s current project.
Corey Vaughan came out to Detroit last year in response to a last minute call while we were out there working on Issue 2 of Boat. It was such a pleasant surprise to receive his sunny Season’s Greetings all the way from the Golden State. The image on the front of the postcard comes from Corey’s Blow Up Christmas photo series. Shooting deflated suburban santas is just one example of Corey’s work which often looks at the darker, funnier, side of Californian life.

The Myth of the American Sleepover
For The Detroit Issue Corey shot the Debs Paterson interview with Michigander David Robert Mitchell, writer/director of The Myth of The American Sleepover in Los Angeles.
